Impact : Instana Python tracer - customers that use the autotrace-webhook and FastAPI >=0.142.0 may see their Python applications crash with HTTP 500 error code. Problem: FastAPI added native OpenTelemetry support in version 0.142.0, which was released on 29th September 2026. We handle that when manual installation/activation is performed, but autotrace-webhook changes the order of imports, and we lose ownership of the OpenTelemetry Provider, causing the reported issue. Work around: (1) If possible, use a FastAPI version lower than 0.142.0 (2) If (1) is not possible, ensure you first disable Autotrace webhook for the impacted namespaces in your cluster. This is especially important if you are using dynamic updates. (3) Manually import the instana module as a dependency of your application (4) Manually activate it. It's important to note that the import of the `instana` package must be placed at the top of the importing list. e.g. import instana # noqa: F401 import litellm from fastapi import FastAPI Current Status A new version of AutoTrace WebHook with the Python Tracer fix is available - AutoTrace WebHook Version: 1.327.
